Cambodian authorities ordered a halt to certain Kun Khmer contests involving minors after an event in Prey Veng was found not to meet safe-sport and child-protection principles.
Public reports said the pairing process did not sufficiently assess ability, experience or weight class. Organizers and technical officials were also unable to show recognized training or certification, and the federation said it had not approved the contest.
For fans and gyms, the wider lesson is that the growth of Kun Khmer must go together with athlete health, dignity and safety. Youth programs need qualified supervision, proper authorization, medical safeguards and match-making that puts the child before the spectacle.
